Irrigation filters, valves, controllers and fittings
How to size an irrigation filter by flow and micron rating
Relate block flow, emitter requirement and water quality to avoid pressure loss or clogging.
When to use this reference
Use this reference after choosing filtration technology to define the number, diameter, grade and cleaning method of the assembly. The goal is to separate confirmed project facts from commercial assumptions before comparing models or requesting a quotation.
Technical checks
Add simultaneous flow, apply the filtration limit recommended by the emitter and check clean and dirty head loss. Allow capacity for cleaning without interrupting the block. Record the source of every value and treat missing data as pending, never as a confirmed default.
- Calculate maximum simultaneous flow.
- Confirm micron/mesh required by the emitter.
- Read the head-loss curve.
- Define cleaning pressure and discharge.
